Is Yoga-Samskrutham University accredited ?

Yoga-Samskrutham University is an institution of higher learning, incorporated at USA and authorized by Commission of Independent Education under Florida Statute 1005.06 ( 1 ) ( f ) to conduct Education programs and award Doctoral, Masters & other degrees. Currently there is no authorized body to process accreditation status for Yoga and Samskrutham in US education systems. In India also, under MHRD/ UGC provisions and act of 1956, there is no authorized body to process accreditation status for Yoga and Samskrutham. Therefore, Yoga-Samskrutham University has opted to keep affiliations and membership with peer bodies of excellence and leadership in the areas of Yoga, Samskrutham, and Languages. Yoga-Samskrutham University will approach for formal accreditation as and when any such national or international bodies come in to existence and fit the vision stated in Srimad Bhagavad – Gita: Tasmat Yogi Bhava ( 6-46).

The absence of accreditation does not take away the authenticity of Yoga –Saskrutham University to award Higher Education awards under the authorization provided by Florida Statute 1005.06 ( 1 ) ( f ), Commission of Independent Education, observing the binding guidelines reading as below: -- “ The institution offers only educational programs that prepare students for religious vocations as ministers, professionals, or laypersons in the categories of ministry, counseling, theology, education, administration, music, fine arts, media communications, or social work.

The titles of degrees issued by the institution cannot be confused with secular degree titles. For this purpose, each degree title must include a religious modifier that immediately precedes, or is included within, any of the following degrees: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Science, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Education. The religious modifier must be placed on the title line of the degree, on the transcript, and whenever the title of the degree appears in official school documents or publications. “

The inclusion of the religious qualifier words like ‘ Vedic Yogas, Vedanga Jyotisha, Vedanta Darshana, Vyasa –Sahitya, Dasa-Sahitya, Bharata- Kala Shastra, Samskrutham’ in the full title of the degree is a sufficient compliance with the statute.
